Valentine French Toast

Valentine’s day is only three days away. Surprise your partner and treat your loved one on Valentine’s Day morning with this indulgent Parma Ham French toast recipe.

Serves 2

4 slices wholemeal or seeded bread
1 egg
1 ½ tbsp milk
1 tsp wholegrain mustard
Two knobs of butter
1 pear, sliced
½ tbsp balsamic vinegar
100g brie, sliced
6 slices Parma Ham
Salt and cracked black pepper

  1. Cut the bread slices into heart shapes
  2. Combine the egg, milk and wholegrain mustard and season with a little salt and pepper
  3. Melt a knob of butter in a large frying pan. Dip the bread hearts into the egg mixture (on both sides) then fry for 2-3 minutes a side until crisp and golden
  4. In a separate pan, melt a knob of butter and add the pear slices. Drizzle over a little balsamic vinegar and cook for 1-2 minutes a side until they just start to caramelise
  5. Layer slices of pear, French Toast, creamy brie and Parma Ham and then serve
